London-based performance artist Cath Hoffmann asked me to redesign some promotional material for her show Free Lunch with the StenchWench. The existing material didn't fit with the DIY/punk spirit of the show, so I took it down a dirtier path with a scratched and distorted font, contrasted against the cleaner body copy and more orderly layout.
Frànçois And The Atlas Mountains have had a custom font family designed by Jérémy Landes for their new album. The result was a unicase font with ornamental alternates for A, O and V, inheriting the zig-zag spirit of the album cover created by the visual artist Tatiana Defraine. A small set of ornaments have been drawn too.
They decided that the Solide Mirage fonts would be free and open-source. This decision was "to allow the typeface to have its own life while the band's fans would be able to seize the sensible world conveyed by the album and the fonts altogether".
Solide Mirage – the album and type family – will be released on the 3rd March 2017 and you can read more about it here.
Did a little animated gif to support a campaign for Barcan+Kirby's Employment department. The website it was made for was black and quite a mess. This stood out nicely as a clean bit of visual relief.
Thanks Spotify for letting me know my top five artists listened to in 2017. Not as embarrassing as my 2am sing alongs might have made it.
